Board Member/Staff Biography
Tom Brown, NVVMF Board Member (Past President)
Born and raised in New York City, NY, Tom enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1965. He spent the next two years in Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he was involved in numerous combat operations and ended up being promoted leader of his helicopter support team. During Tom's time in Vietnam, he was awarded several meritorious awards including the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and other unit citation awards. Tom was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps at Fort Omaha in 1969.
Tom is one of the small group of local veterans that originally conceived of the Nebraska Vietnam Veterans Memorial so has been instrumental in making their dream a reality. Tom has served as NVVMF's President of the Board of Directors from 2017 through 2025. He continues to serve today as a member of the Board of Directors.
