Bert crum, usmc
The son of a World War 2 Marine Corps veteran, Burt was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Omaha Tech High School. Influenced by his father’s service in the Marie Corps, Burt decided to join the Marine Corps after graduating from high school. Although Burt was badly wounded while serving in Vietnam and had lived with physical limitations and a limited income due to the wounds he suffered in combat, he still managed to give generously to the various organizations he supported through the remainder of his life until he passed away in October 2025. The U.S. Marine Corps flagpole installation here at the Nebraska Vietnam Veterans Memorial is only one of the many contributions Bert had selflessly given to his community, ensuring that, although he may no longer be with us physically, his legacy continues to live on. Thanks Bert! Semper Fi!
