Marvin Andrew Mollner
June 9, 1943 - October 2, 2024
Born in Norfolk, NE, Marvin Andrew Mollner was a proud patriot and dedicated
serviceman. A 29-year honorably retired Senior Chief with the U.S. Navy Seabees, Marv
served his country with distinction, earning both the Navy Commendation Medal and
Navy Achievement Medal.
Early in Mollner's career while stationed at NAS Barbers Point, the 20-year-old aviation
machinist 3rd class spotted a ground collision between an F3-B jet and maintenance
vehicle, causing jet fuel to gush over the plane and vehicle, the motor of which was still
running . The driver, fearing an explosion, fled while the pilot was still in the cockpit.
Young Mollner ran to the vehicle, drove it away from the plane and shut off the engine
"at great personal risk" according to the commendation.
Following his military career, he continued his lifelong commitment to service, retiring
after 42 years with the Metropolitan Utilities District.
Marv was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Pat, for 60 years. He was a loving
father to Steve (Silvia) of Carlsbad, CA; Dave (JoAnn) of Newnan, GA; and Kris
(Dennis) of Omaha, NE. His greatest joy came from his family, especially his six
beautiful grandchildren-Jordan, Alex, Maci, Mya, Luke, and Jenna-and three greatgrandchildren-
Emerich, Marlowe, and Lennon. He is also survived by his brother, Jim
Mollner (Mary), and sister, Ruth Piatt (Ed) and is preceded in death by his sister, Mary
Jane Kroll (John).
Marv lived life to the fullest and always put others first. Whether spending cherished
time with family and friends or honoring fellow veterans as a dedicated member of the
American Legion Post 331 Honor Guard, his presence was felt by all who knew him. He
was the kind of man who would help anyone in need-whether fixing a heating or air
conditioning unit, troubleshooting electrical issues, repairing a leaky pipe, or diagnosing
a car problem-never asking for anything in return. His generosity and willingness to
lend a hand touched countless lives.
A passionate street rod and car enthusiast, he had a deep love for all things Chevrolet,
as long as there was a powerful engine under the hood. But beyond his love for cars, he
will be remembered most for his kind heart, his selflessness, and his unwavering
commitment to family, friends, and country.
Marv also found joy in the simple things-especially feeding and watching the birds in
his yard, a daily ritual that brought him peace and happiness having coffee with Patty at
the kitchen table.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend - Marv was loved
by many and will be deeply missed. His legacy of service, love, and generosity will live
on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him forever.
